Do setting powders make a difference?

Hi! I am more or less a total noob when it comes to makeup (didn't know it was this complicated covering stuff up and making it look legit!), only started using it a few months ago (I'm 19). Now, I do not wear mascara, eyeshadow, lip gloss or anything like that... I'm trying to avoid makeup as much as possible but I "finally" caved in because I reasoned with myself that covering up the occasional pimple or redness now and then wouldn't be the same as "not feeling comfortable with my looks" (I'm not saying that's what all women wearing makeup is dealing with, I know some just think it's fun).

At first I bought the Lily Lolo concealer because I'm an organic/natural junkie, the content is really important to me. No matter how hydrated I was it kept creasing up and looking bad in two hours or so. That does NOT fly with me! I started digging, thinking that something less powdery and more liquid-y would logically have more staying power, I think I was right because I purchased the RMS Beauty un-cover up (basically a concealer) which is spreadable and it has proved to stay better. Still, I am not 100% happy, I want the makeup to last for longer than 7-8 hours... I noticed RMS Beauty writing that a setting powder would make it last for longer. Is it a scam or will these so called setting powders make a difference? What is reasonable to expect from a setting powder? I wanna make sure I don't buy something that ultimately doesn't make a difference. Thanks, I hope you more experienced makeup users can help me out :)

Yes, a good setting powder will work wonders. Are you wearing the setting powder alone? I'd recommend first applying a light foundation so the powder has something to hold onto and won't simply fade away after a few hours. If foundation a little too heavy for you, try a tinted moisturizer with an SPF. http://vita-health.blog/content/gallery/p-best-tinted-moisturizers%3C/p%3E

I use setting powders and have found that they do work pretty good. I love the one from ELF.

Yes, setting powders make a HUGE difference -- especially if you live in a hot, humid area and/or if you suffer from oily skin. I have a very tight budget to live by (I have twin daughters, age 15) and I like the Do-It-Yourself (DIY) stuff out there... Why not try just plain old CORNSTARCH (from the kitchen)? I use it all the time as a setting powder. It's all-natural and VERY INEXPENSIVE. It really helps your makeup to stay put, too. Give it a try. I love it!!

Yes they work, I especially like using CoverGirl's loose setting powder in medium. Great coverage without looking ashy.

Hmm, I'm going to check that one out. I love e.l.f. products
