Chocolates

Hi,

I'm pregnant and wonder if it is safe for me as well as my baby to eat chocolates, what would be its advantages or incovenients?

Re: Chocolates

I’ve been hearing that chocolates may reduce pregnancy complication risks and make the baby happier and livelier. It is not so bad I think but you have to limit yourself since the amount of calories, fat and sugar can increase risk of weight gain.

Re: Chocolates

What Kamel said is true but in fact, dark chocolates are safer than milk chocolates. Do you know why? Dark chocolate is better for weight loss since it contains less carbohydrate, no milk protein and less sucrose; yet dark chocolate can satisfy your cravings far more than milk one which is another way to limit yourself, didn’t you notice that?

Of course, so I should stop eating milk chocolates then but you know I’m still wondering about the real “dark chocolates” since I’ve been hearing these last days that every country has its own conception, ingredients of it.. How can I know that it is real or not?

Re: Chocolates

Chocolates are not a contraindication to pregnancy. Eat moderately. It contains caffeine, if eaten too much can make you hyperactive.

You just have to check its ingredients, I've been hearing that if cocoa powder is mentioned first, it is real dark chocolate if it is not the case or “sugar” is mentioned first, it is not real.

Useful information, thanks Nazir. I used to order chocolates from Delices & Gourmandises these last days, I love Belgian chocolates. I’ve just checked what is written in the boxes but cocoa mass is mentioned first. Is it safe then?

Yes, it is Lolly however you should be careful since it is better for pregnant women to eat only 2 or 3 squares of it every day. I’ve been hearing good remarks about Delices & Gourmandises dietary pralines too but I don’t know if it is as tasty as chocolates. You should also vary what you eat Lolly, it is crucial.
