Don't You Hate When...

You get dressed, get your makeup on, and head off to work for the day...only to look in the mirror at work and decide you don't love what you chose for your makeup that day? This happens to me sometimes, most notably recently when I was wearing a green sweatshirt (my work is very casual most days) and reached for an eye shadow duo I hadn't used for a long time. It's from The Body Shop and the shade name is "water lily" (I think...if they even make it still). One side is a beautiful silvery grey color, the other is a lovely pale green. I love it but hadn't worn it for a long time so I decided to go with it. Then all day I just felt..."off." Every time I caught my reflection I couldn't ignore the feeling like I had chosen poorly for my eye makeup. I don't know if it was because the tones in the shadows didn't work well with the blush and lip color I had chosen (this was a couple weeks ago now, so I don't remember what else I was wearing), or if I felt it was too much green with the sweatshirt? But it wasn't right. Today I'm wearing that same sweatshirt, but this time I decided to experiment with the two darkest shades in my Naked On the Run palette (which I LOVE, by the way), and that is working out pretty well I think. I feel less like I got the look all wrong. Does this happen to anyone else, ever? Do you ever feel like you were going for a look and just...missed somehow? < Previous Post Next Post >
