Acne- afraid to try products

I've never written one of these before, so I'm sorry if I don't do it right!I have some acne, its nothing major, just from puberty. I dont know what to do because whenever I try a specific routine I dont have the patience to continue with it or pursue it right. I'm afraid that once I get committed and buckle down that it won't work. Should I just stick with my Stridex Pads and let it take it's own course? Once I start a new product it seems to make not enough of a difference or it makes it worse. Plus, mother can't stand when I spend over $8 on a product, how does she expect me to start feeling better about myself if I'm using cheap stuff I might not even commit to?
So, in nutshell, please tell me what to do about my fear of starting up a new skin product. It has gotten better since i started using random things but would it get even better if I got a real routine?  THANK YOU for even reading this!

I would try using one of the Freeman clay or mud masks on a biweekly basis. The company makes a few different formulas for different skin types and conditions. You can usually find them in the skin care section at grocery stores or drugstores, and they should be priced around five dollars. Hope this helps!
