Julep Melissa
Julep Melissa
Here's one of the polishes from my March $.01 Julep Maven box.
Julep's Melissa is described as "Sheer opalescent shimmer adds a soft glow when used alone and a high-fashion holographic effect when used over another color."
$14.00 / .27 fl oz
Finish: opalescent topcoat
To be completely honest, I assumed I was going to dislike this polish mainly because of the swatches I found of it online. Most of the swatches I saw, people are using this as a topcoat on top of other colors, which looks really nice but I think the true beauty of this polish is when you wear it on its own. It's a sheer polish, but with 3 coats you can build it up to semi sheer, which is my personal favorite way to wear this shade. The "soft glow" is a gorgeous, ethereal blue that reminds me of Abalone shell.
Anyways, the Julep brush is not my favorite, the formula of the polish is actually pretty good. It wore for a good 3 days (with a top coat) before any chipping started. That's a vast difference from my first experience with Julep's Taylor, who lasted only a day. I had thought this polish would accentuate the brush strokes and look streaky, but I think the blue glow hides that enough to pull it off as a flawless finish.
I truly do love opalescent topcoats, and this has made its way to my list of top topcoats, along with CND's Effect polishes - big accomplishment! I would definitely pay the full $14.00 for this shade - that blue glow is too awesome to pass it!
Base Coat: Zoya Anchor Base Coat Top Coat: Zoya Armor Top Coat Cuticles: E.L.F. Essential Nourishing Cuticle Pen Polish Holder: LadyBug Nail Polish Holder < Previous Post Next Post >
