Essence - A Lovely Secret
Essence - A Lovely Secret
Essence Colour & Go Quick Drying Nail Polish, A Lovely Secret is a pastel lavender with a blue hue also known as periwinkle. In the bottle it has a slight pink shimmer, but when worn on the nails it is barely noticeable, even in person I couldn't see that pretty pink shimmer (I was a tiny bit heartbroken, I love pink shimmers in non-pink polishes). This is a new shade to their Spring/Summer collection for 2012, Essence seems to change up their permanent colors every year, plus it has that catchy "NEW" sticker on it.
$.99 (on Ulta.com) / .16 fl oz / 5 ml
The first coat is streaky, uneven and a little thin, but the second coat gives you full coverage. The brush isn't the highest quality, but it's high enough where it doesn't drag the polish - you still get a smooth texture.
This polish dries to a nice shine on its own. Although it has a slight shimmer, you will most likely see it as a creme.
I added a coat of Zoya's Armor Top Coat and it really amped up the shine on this polish. As I was photographing this polish, it caught BF's eye and he said this looked like "a really nice color", so I think I'll be sporting this shade more often.
Base Coat: Zoya Anchor Base Coat
Top Coat: Zoya Armor Top Coat
Cuticle Oil: ELF Essentials Nourishing Cuticle Pen
Lady Bug Nail Polish Holder
