Plastic comb or brush is light and cheap, however, plastic comb produces static electricity which will damage your hair, especially during winter when the air is very dry, using plastic comb/brush will generate even more static electricity which will spread to sweaters and other materials contain more cotton on, once you touch the conductor, the ESD will be out and there is often a tingling feeling, the damaged hair is easier to break.

Wooden comb is made of natural grown timber, it also generates static electricity, however much less those from plastic combs, and which different kind of wood, the column of static electricity each kind generates is different, the higher Woodiness density, the less static electricity.

Horn comb normally made from Buffaloes, the good thing about it is it rarely generate any static electricity, and it’s healthier to use a horn comb to comb your hair on daily basis according to traditional Chinese medical science. So it’s normally more expensive than wooden combs.

Metal comb is also good on static electricity as well, however due to the weight and cost of mental, most manufacturers don’t choose to have metal comb in production.
