Exclusive Q&A with Christina Aguilera
Two months ago, I had the chance to attend a live taping of the NBC hit show, "The Voice." I met up with Christina Aguilera's PR team on the set, and we watched the exciting round of semi finals in her "Friends and Family" section (I know, I'm a lucky girl).
And with the July launch of Christina's brand new fragrance, Royal Desire (it's now being sold exclusively at Kohl's), I was obviously very excited to get the chance to interview the celeb -- I asked her about everything from her career to motherhood, and how she pampers herself with such a busy schedule.
Me: What are your all-time favorite products?
Christina: I always have moisturizer with me -- moisturizing is key! I also need an array of different lip balms all the time. I have to always feel something on my lips, it's a must for me. And I love my signature red lipstick. I like feeling hair products in my hair, and I love the smell of hair products. Some of my favorite products are:
LipSense lipstick in Blu Red
MAC liquid eyeliner
MAC makeup removing wipes
Crème de La Mer moisturizer
Nou Nou conditioner
Johnson & Johnson’s detangler
Me: How do you juggle your career and motherhood at the same time? Any tips for busy moms out there?
Christina: It's definitely a balancing act. I think all women in their own right do a lot multi-tasking and have things that they have to balance and find their own speed. Being a working mom is definitely hard for any woman, because you’re passionate about your work and passionate about being a mother. I think that passion really drives home the idea of making it work. Every woman finds her own way of making it work. For me, as long as I see my little boy’s big smile and hear his hearty laugh at the end of the day, that makes me happy.
Me: What's your go-to method of pampering yourself?
Christina: I really love bubble baths, massages and champagne -- they are all great ways to pamper myself. I think it’s so important to make sure I have "me" time, aside from being a Mommy and a recording artist. I also love to make collages and scrapbooks because it really relaxes me. I think it's important for all women to get in touch with themselves by making sure they have a time in their lives to do something that makes them feel good and only benefits them.
Me: What's your own personal definition of "beauty?"
Christina: Throughout a woman's life, we go through many different phases, looks, outfits and things like that. I think I've run the gamut of being very experimental in my career. I always love to keep changing it up and being an artist in this business, I don't feel that the older you get you have to be confined in certain things. Plus, once I’ve been there and done that I get bored and I can’t do it again. At this age would I wear things at 30 years old that I did when I was 21? Probably not, but its always fun to know I’ve been fearless in my experimentation in beauty and fashion.
Me: Last but not least, what makes you feel the most beautiful?
Christina: Having fun is always a key element, and feeling confident makes me feel beautiful.
