A Long Story

Bitter tasting polishes, band-aids, thinking about something else, nail varnish.
I tried every trick in the book to stop myself from biting my nails. tI just wouldn't happen, I'd always find someway to bite them. People would comment on my non-existent nails and I'd get really embarassed, but even that didn't curb the strong urge. Throughout my high school graduation, numerous weddings and other special occasions, I hid my hands underneath my clutch or placed on them on my lap under the table, away from anyone's notice. I had literally given up all hope.

But during one partiulcar week of January 2010, all that changed.

I suddenly got so extremely busy with life that I didn't have the time to even THINK about biting my nails. Once all the busy-ness was behind me, I looked at my hands to notice my left pinky nail was a little longer than usual... And it looked really pretty!! Then it hit me: Maybe I can keep this up. Maybe I can stop biting my nails once and for all!! I came up with this brilliant idea of my own. I promised myself that for a whole week, I wouldnt bite my pinky nail, but I was allowed to chew on the rest of them. The next week, I wouldnt bite my pink and ring finger nails. The third week, my pinky ring and middle fingers would be off bounds and so on and so forth.

And before you know it, all 10 fingernails started to grow and my hands started to look presentable for a change!! Oh happy day!!
