homemade hair mask
now i know there are TONS of diy hair masks, but recently i came across a very interesting one that i have never heard of. Black tea hair rinse. The caffeine in the black tea enhances hair growth and prevents shedding. It also is claimed to make hair stronger and shinier but must be followed with a moisturizing treatment because it leaves hair "squeaky clean" much like an apple cider vinegar rinse. today is my first day trying this so please comment if you have tried this -i would love to know your results/or tips. i heard that to really see a difference in the shedding you have to wait a couple washes.
I have very thin hair, that is longer than my ribs and is light brown. this treatment tends to leave a temporary tint so its not recommended for blondes.
Process:
I put about 1 quart of boiling water from my teapot into a pitcher and added 5 vannilla flavored black tea bags (lipton) and steeped for an hour. then i brought it in the shower, shampooed, rinsed the tea all over my hair, put on a showercap for 15 minutes, then rinsed out with more tea water, then conditioning mask, then conditioner and rinse very well.
Results:
So far as it is air drying the results are similar to a vinegar rinse for the way my scalp reacted but my hair is way more thick and very smooth with out that squeaky clean feel. to be continued...
