My First Organic Spray Tan
Earlier this week I was invited to Lavish Tan in Venice Beach, CA to try out an organic spray tan for the first time. I've had my experiences using Mystic Tan and know all too well how drastic the tan can appear the following day, so I was a little hesitant getting a tan on Wednesday knowing I had to be at work the following day. (I usually opt for a tan on Friday so by Monday, the tan has had a few days to mellow out) But I was reassured that this particular solution would not give me the orange tint associated with most spray tans because it has a brown sugar base. When I arrived to get the tan, Alex, the airbrush technician offered me a variety of scents to choose from. I am a HUGE sucker for scents, and I usually despise the smell of spray tans, so this was very exciting. Almond, cucumber melon, milk and honey and vanilla were a few of the options. Since the solution can be customized for each client, I was also able to choose how dark I wanted the tan to be. I'm fair skinned but love a deep, dark tan so I decided to go with a medium/dark tone with milk and honey scent. Yum. This was my first time getting airbrushed by a technician and I must say, it made spray tanning a totally different experience for me. I'm used to standing in a booth and having a computerized voice tell me to rotate as I get sprayed in the face with excessive amounts of tanning solution, all while holding my breath. Not fun. This particular tanning session was actually relaxing. Alex took great care in making sure she covered me evenly and even took the time to go over certain areas twice to deepen the color. After about 20 mins I was done. My tan lines were visible immediately and I had no "spray tan smell" whatsoever. After 8 hours I showered and my tan looked even more fantastic the next morning. Even with my fair complexion, the tan appeared natural and I didn't cringe walking into work the next morning. Most importantly, my palms/knuckles had no signs of orange stain. (nothing worse than having to strategically hide body parts to prevent people from seeing the orange blotches you missed -- eek!) Overall, very happy with the results and this will definitely be my new go-to for a tan. So cool! I love the scent idea. I reeked of spray tan when I got mine done.

This sounds like a great experience. Perhaps I can try it out next time for a fancy event.

I never really minded the smell of regular spray tans until I tried this out. I actually LIKED the smell and didn't want it to fade!
