Straighten Sparingly
I love nothing more than having someone else blow dry my hair. So I'm thrilled that blowout bars are, um, blowing up all over town. In fact, I just got a blowout the other day at this new place called JM Blowdry in Beverly Hills. (The price is $30, which is $5 cheaper than its competitors BTW.) I asked the hairstylist for a sleek blowout a la Gwyneth Paltrow. However, my hair is much thicker and wavier than Gwyn's, so after my blowout I requested that my stylist use a straighter on it as well, but I was surprised by his reaction ...
He didn't refuse to straighten my hair, but he just lamented how his clients always ask him to use a straightner on their hair as well, and that he dislikes doing it because it is so damaging. His words of hair wisdom definitely weighed on my heat-styling conscious because I have been embracing my natural texture since then -- for the most part anyways.
